WCC Hosts COIL Training with Kwansei Gakuin University Expert

In its ongoing commitment to global academic integration and internationalization, World Citi Colleges (WCC) International Affairs and Strategic Partnerships Office (IASPO) successfully hosted a focused session of its International Affairs Training Series on “COIL Pedagogical Strategies” last July 30, 2025, at the WCC Quezon City Campus.

The training featured Dr. Andrew Nowlan from Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan), who delivered a dynamic presentation on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)—highlighting its transformative impact on pedagogy, student engagement, and intercultural competence.

Attended by deans and faculty members from various departments across WCC and WCC ATC campuses, the session served as a strategic platform to upskill educators in international teaching methodologies. Discussions centered on integrating COIL practices into the curriculum, aligning with WCC’s mission of fostering globally relevant and accessible education.

Drawing from his extensive experience in international academic partnerships, Dr. Nowlan showcased practical models and sustainable approaches to COIL—demonstrating how Philippine institutions can implement global collaboration without the need for physical mobility.

This initiative is part of WCC’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a globally competent academic community and to solidify its role as a world-class institution preparing students for careers that transcend borders.
