WCC-QC Inter-High Dance Competition 2017 Heats up the Stage

wccqc_dance_competition_01The World Citi Colleges-Quezon City held the first Inter-High Dance Competition with the theme “ Just Groove it!” at WCC Gymnasium last February 17, 2017, it was participated  in  by junior high students from private and public high schools. The main objective of the event is to showcase the skills, artistry and technique of the students in modern dance.

All of the participants who competed in the event from Quezon City were JP Laurel High School, Quirino High School, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School, North Fairview High School, Krus na Ligas High School, San Francisco High School, Sergio Osmeña High School and Good Shepherd Academy. Other competitors were from various places such as Holy Trinity Academy (Manila), Eusebio High School (Pasig), Sto. Nino National High School (Marikina) and St. Matthew College (San Mateo).

Sto. Niño National High School (SNNHS), the SNNHS Dance Troupe won the 1st place garnering a total score of 96.33% and received a total cash prize of ₱22,000 pesos; ₱15,000 pesos for the students and ₱7,000 pesos for the school. Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School, the Generals won 2nd place with a total score of 96.23% and received a total cash prize of ₱15,000 pesos; ₱10,000 pesos for the students and ₱5,000 pesos for the school. 3rd place is the JP Laurel High School , X Royal Team with 95.48% of score, received a total cash prize of  ₱8,000 pesos; ₱5,000 pesos for the students and ₱3,000 for the school.

Special awards were also given such as The People’s Choice Award awarded to  Quirino High School, the Quirino High School Dance Ensemble with a total of 4,800 likes and 2,005 Facebook shares during the contest period from February 7-February 15. 2017. On the other hand, Zagu, one of our major sponsors awarded the “Zagu’s Irresistibly Dance Group”  is given to Sto Nino National High School, SNNHS Dance Troupe.

Ms. Ed Muji Andres, champion of World Dance Philippines, senior choreographer and stylist of “The Adlib”, Mr. France Shenre Pedroso,  a 4-peat champion in UAAP Cheerdance Competition, a former member of National University PEP Squad, 3-peat National Cheerdance Competition COED Category champion, and a former member of Baile Dance Group in WCC-QC branch,  Ms. Tin Abad who became one of the pioneer members of GFORCE, an officer of the multi-awarded St. Scholastica’s College Manila Dance Club under the tutelage of Ms. Georcelle Dapat.

The event became successful, more exciting and more enjoyable because of the following sponsors:  Mogu Mogu, Shakey’s Anonas, Chowking, Careline- Official Make-up Sponsor, Zagu, Pocari Sweat, TupperWare, Hawk Bag,  Smiley’s Blast and Globe.

The event was hosted by Ms. Ivy Llona, 4th year college with the course of BS Tourism Management in WCC-QC, and Mr. Jon Jester Reguyal, SHS student of ABM Strand.
